MK Simcha Rothman (Religious Zionism party) spoke with Arutz Sheva - Israel National News about the deadly mass shooting at a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney, Australia today (Sunday).

"We are shocked to hear what happened in Sydney, Australia. We warned about this for very, very long time. I was invited by the Jewish community in Sydney and in Melbourne to come and visit for a solidarity mission, and sadly, the Australian government prevented my entrance because [they wanted] to appease what they called the Muslim or the Palestinian community there,” Rothman said.

“The Australian government learned today in a very terrible way that appeasement for terror does not create less terror, it creates more terror. And if the Australian government will not take measures, extreme measures to prevent those kind of attacks, we are doomed to see, sadly, more and more attacks like this," he added.

"The state of Israel is committed to help the Jewish community. When I was invited there and my entrance was prevented, I came on Zoom, I spoke to the community there. I am in touch with the community there and the State of Israel will extend any needed help to the community, but it's first and foremost the role of the Australian government to prevent these kind of vicious attacks and we will demand it in any way possible,” he said.
