The Ukrainian ambassador to Israel, Yevgen Korniychuk, was summoned on Wednesday for a reprimand at the Foreign Ministry by the Deputy Director-General for Eurasia, following an interview he gave to Ynet in which he criticized the Prime Minister’s comments about his conversations with Russia’s president.
Deputy Director-General for Eurasia at the Foreign Ministry, Yuval Fuchs, clarified to the ambassador that “his remarks are entirely unacceptable and deviate from diplomatic protocol. Moreover, the ambassador’s statements disregard Israel’s clear position since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, as reflected, among other things, in Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar’s visit to Kyiv this year and Israel’s votes at the UN.”
The Foreign Ministry stated that Fuchs “expressed hope that the ambassador’s future remarks will align with the shared desire of both countries to continue strengthening their cooperation.”
