A group of Yesha residents attempted to return this afternoon to the hilltop outside Kiryat Arba from which a widow and her five orphans were brutally expelled almost two weeks ago. Security forces, however, prevented them from returning to the home of Livnat Ozeri, whose husband Nati Ozeri was murdered by Palestinian terrorists during the family's Sabbath night meal in January.
MK Ran Cohen (Meretz) chose to speak out on this topic this afternoon, saying that the "lawbreakers are harming state security by occupying, with their games, the security forces - who are needed for the war against terrorism. They should be made to stand trial." He did not comment on the army's midnight removal of the family without their belongings, their transport to an unspecified location, and the destruction of their home with their belongings in it.
An on-line petition protesting the brutal manner in which the Ozeri home was destroyed and the family forcibly expelled has been initiated by Rjews.net - a server of Russian-Jewish websites. The petition, in English, Hebrew and Russian, can be signed at "http://rjews.net/hill-26/".
Public Security Minister Tzachi HaNegbi said that he plans to take steps to improve the relations between the police and Jewish residents in Hevron. He told Arutz-7 today that he intends to "visit Hevron soon, meet with both sides, and try to solve the problem."
