The Degel Hatorah faction, which represents the Lithuanian (non-Hassidic) haredi community, announced on Wednesday morning that its rabbis have authorized them to proceed with advancing the Draft Bill in the Knesset committees.
The directive was handed down by the deans of the Slabodka Yeshiva, Rabbi Dov Lando and Rabbi Moshe Hillel Hirsch.
This being said, it was noted that the final decision will be made only after the bill is submitted in its entirety and is brought to the rabbis for further review.
The party addressed the yeshiva students, stating: "Now more than ever, we need a lot of help from Heaven, so continue studying in the yeshivas and kollels."
They further stated: "We are certain and sure that thanks to the influx in Torah study and the adherence to the rulings of the Torah sages, we will merit to increase Torah and glorify it, which is a great defender of the entire people of Israel."
