US President Donald Trump revealed on Friday that, "with a high degree of certainty," the suspect in the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk was arrested.

Asked by the Fox and Friends panel if there were any updates on the suspect in the murder, President Trump answered: "I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him in custody."

He added, "Everyone did a great job. We worked with the local police, the governor, everybody did a great job."

The President noted the complexities in locating a suspect in the given circumstances: "We started off with a clip that made him look like an ant; it was almost useless. We just saw that there was someone up there. So much work has been done over the last two and a half days."

Several news agencies have identified the suspect as 22-year-old Utah native Tyler Robinson.

CNN cited two sources that stated that the man in custody confessed to his father that he was the shooter. His father told authorities and said he had secured his son until he could be formally detained.

On Thursday night, the FBI published a new video showing the suspect jumping from the rooftop of a building after the shooting.

Earlier, the Utah Department of Public Safety on Thursday published additional photos of the suspect in the shooting.

The photos were posted to the official X account of the Department, with the public urged to contact the FBI with any tips.
