Once again, exaggerated claims against the Jewish communities in Yesha have been proven wrong. The Knesset Economics Committee was convened today to discuss, among other things, alleged "huge allocations" transferred from the Housing Ministry to localities in Judea, Samaria and Gaza. Peace Now and Labor MK Dalia Itzik joined together, with Peace Now making the allegations and Itzik raising the issue in the committee. Their plans were thwarted, however, when the Housing Ministry produced a detailed document showing that in fact the most highly-funded areas are the Galilee, the Golan, and Beit She'an.

Housing Ministry spokesman Kobi Bleich explained that the goal of the Ministry is to encourage construction in Israel, "and so wherever there is building, there we will help." He said that areas in the periphery, including Yesha, have more construction than in other areas, and aid is given accordingly.
