It was a week of extraordinary luck for Mifal HaPais, Israel’s state-run lottery, as two women in their 50s walked away with massive wins in consecutive draws — one taking home NIS 8 million, and the other scoring NIS 6 million the very next day.

The first winner, a woman from central Israel, hit the NIS 8 million jackpot on August 14, 2025. She shared that buying lottery tickets was a casual habit, usually done while walking her dog past a local kiosk. “I fill out a slip from time to time,” she said. “Even small past wins gave me a feeling that a big one was just a matter of time.”

She only discovered her windfall the day after the draw, when the kiosk owner asked her to check in with Mifal HaPais. “I had no idea how much I’d won until I checked it myself at home,” she recalled. Her partner needed convincing — the physical ticket sealed the deal.

Looking ahead, she plans to keep things simple: “My goal is to buy an apartment. I’ll continue working as usual — and who knows, maybe I’ll fill out another slip.”

Just one day later, the luck continued: the second prize in the Double Lotto — a hefty NIS 6 million — was claimed by another woman in her 50s who works in administration. She’s been playing the same numbers for over three years, using a mix of her personal "lucky numbers" and picks generated by the Lottomat.

Her win came with a touch of mysticism. “Years ago, I was at a conference where an astrologer told me, ‘One day, you’ll win the Lotto.’ I told him, in front of everyone, ‘I know.’” In the days leading up to the draw, she dreamt of red fruits — a symbol she took as a sign of abundance.

Initially, she believed she had won just NIS 6,000, until her son corrected her. “Mom, it’s not 6 thousand — it’s 6 million!” he told her, sending her into shock.

As for the future, she offered some wise words: “It’s important to manage the money wisely and not lose your head. Enjoy life, stay humble, and most of all — have faith in the Creator, because everything comes from Him."
