This November, Israeli audiences will have the rare opportunity to witness the timeless beauty of Swan Lake, performed by the Russian National Ballet under the artistic direction of legendary dancer and choreographer Vyacheslav Gordeev.
First performed in 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Swan Lake is one of the most celebrated ballets in the world. Composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, it tells the timeless tale of Prince Siegfried and Princess Odette, who has been cursed to live as a swan by the evil sorcerer Rothbart. Known for its emotional depth, exquisite choreography, and iconic “white acts,” the ballet has become a symbol of classical dance excellence, enchanting audiences for nearly 150 years.
The full-scale production will feature the company’s principal dancers, presenting the complete two-act, four-scene ballet without cuts or compromises. Set to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s immortal score and staged with choreography by Marius Petipa, Lev Ivanov, Alexander Gorsky, and Gordeev himself, the performance promises an evening of elegance, passion, and world-class artistry.
Renowned for their technical precision and emotive storytelling, the Russian National Ballet has been recognized as one of Europe’s leading ballet companies, earning the title of “Best Ballet Theatre in Europe” from the European Producers Association. Their lavish production combines opulent sets, hand-crafted costumes with golden details, and a company of dancers celebrated for their virtuosity.
Vyacheslav Gordeev, a former Bolshoi Ballet soloist and an international ballet star, brings his signature interpretation to this classical masterpiece, merging traditional Russian ballet heritage with his own artistic vision. In 2012, the company celebrated the 1,000th performance of Swan Lake, a testament to its enduring popularity in its repertoire.
The production will tour across Israel, starting in Ashkelon on November 3, 2025 at Heichal HaTarbut, followed by Netanya on November 5 at the Netanya Cultural Center Auditorium, Ma’alot-Tarshiha on November 6 at the Ma’alot Cultural Hall, Haifa on November 7 at the Rappaport Center - Haifa Auditorium, Jerusalem on November 8 at the Jerusalem Theatre - Sherover Hall, Rishon LeZion on November 12 at the Meir Nitzan Cultural and Arts Center, and concluding in Herzliya on November 14 at the Herzliya Performing Arts Center.
