Water!!
The Kinneret, Israel’s main water source, rose an additional 16 cm over this past weekend bringing the total for the winter season to 4.09 meters. Only an additional 1.43 meters are missing to reach the optimal level. And on Mount Hermon, the lower ski lift area marked 2 full meters of snow this weekend, a first since the site was opened to the public in the 1970’s. The upper ski lift area has reached 12 full meters of snow. When all that snow melts, it will stream right into the Kinneret.
Birds!
The month of Adar saw the first truly impressive surge of spring migrant birds through the Southern Arava [located in southern adjacent to the Negev desert]. Great numbers of avian friends of dozens of different species filled the air and green spaces all through the month bringing joy and cheer to the sizeable Israeli bird watching public.
