At 11 AM on Wednesday at the Jerusalem Magistrates Court in the complex known as the Russian Compound, the trial of David Ha'ivri will proceed. Ha'ivri is being charged with selling T-shirts with Rabbi Meir Kahane’s picture and the words “No Arabs, No Terrorist Attacks.” The prosecution states that this is "racist incitement," deserving of up to five years' imprisonment. A few days ago, a police contingent raided Ha'ivri's home, confiscating pictures, books, and articles in an apparent search for evidence connecting him with the publication of a bi-weekly four-page journal espousing the Torah and political views of Rabbi Kahane.
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON SUPPLEMENT: The hearing did not in fact take place, due to a strike by court stenographers. It has been pushed off until June 26.
