Chairman of Republicans Overseas Israel Atty Marc Zell spoke with Arutz Sheva-Israel National News on the appointment of Mike Huckabee, the new US Ambassador to Israel.

“Today marks a momentous occasion", Zell said, "one that many have long prayed and hoped for over the past four years. It is a day filled with both joy and reflection, particularly for those who experienced the challenges of the preceding administration. As the newly appointed US Ambassador to Israel delivered his remarks, he expressed difficulty holding back tears—an emotion that resonated deeply with many of us.”

“With this new chapter, we welcome the end of a period during which I, personally, had to serve as the spokesperson for the Trump administration here in Israel. I am profoundly relieved and gratified to witness the arrival of an official ambassador who brings with him both passion and professionalism. His appointment signals not only a personal milestone but a broader shift in policy direction that places US-Israel relations at the forefront of the new administration’s foreign policy agenda,” he added.

Zell emphasized that, “It is significant that this ambassador is part of a growing coalition within the administration that views the American-Israeli partnership as a top priority. This is especially crucial given the internal policy debates currently unfolding in Washington concerning the Middle East, Iran, and regional stability. Such diversity of thought is good and essential for the President to make the right decisions.”

He said that, “Supporters of strong US-Israel ties, including prominent figures like Mike Huckabee, Senator Marco Rubio, Representative Mike Waltz, and businessman Howard Lutnick, represent a powerful contingent advocating for sound strategic decisions. Their voices, both in Israel and in Washington, are expected to shape future policy in meaningful ways.”

“With regard to Iran, the ambassador will firmly represent American interests, which align closely with those of Israel. It is important to clarify that this is not about Israeli demands, but about protecting American national security. As President Trump made unequivocally clear during his tenure, Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon; this is an essential interest of the US as well. While the path of diplomacy remains open, the administration is under no illusions about the nature of Iranian negotiation tactics and will act decisively, in both the US’ and Israel’s, but primarily the US’ interests, when necessary,” Zell concluded.

Dr Paul Brody, President ZOA of Long Island & Queens and Executive Council of American Friends of Ateret Cohanim, added that, “The appointment of Ambassador Mike Huckabee—a long-time friend of Israel—is especially poignant. Known not only as a political figure but also as a man of deep sincerity and conviction, his support for Israel has always come from the heart. Many in Israel and around the world admire the authenticity of his commitment. It is our hope that his example might inspire others, and may they learn something from him.”
