In Hevron last night, a soldier on guard duty in Admot Yeshai (Tel Rumeida) was lightly hurt when an Arab assaulted him. The Israeli shot at the terrorist before the latter escaped. Spokesmen for the Hevron Jewish Community decried the fact that just last evening, it was reported that Attorney-General Elyakim Rubenstein had requested IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Moshe Ya'alon to figure out how to provide security in Hevron without imposing curfews on the Arabs:
"Even while under curfew, Arabs are succeeding in perpetrating terror attacks in Hevron. The Arabs have declared war on Jews in Hevron and Kiryat Arba, murdering 25 people in the past four months. Allowing them freedom of movement in the city will only increase the probability of more spilled Jewish blood… Why should Israel even consider easing conditions of Arabs in Hevron? Even those Arabs who do not perpetrate the attacks support terror and terrorists. The terrorists would not be able to carry out attacks without major support from Arabs throughout the city. We call on the government to begin an immediate policy of expulsion…
"We also demand an immediate end to the temporary injunction stopping building in Tel Rumeida, and issuance of building permits allowing construction on Jewish land in Hevron. It is essential that Hevron's Arabs learn that continued terror activity against Jews will lead not to a decrease in Israelis living in Hevron, but to the opposite."
