A senior BBC correspondent in the Gaza Strip told a Hamas gathering that journalists and media organizations are \"waging the campaign shoulder-to-shoulder together with the Palestinian people.\" The Hamas website reported that the remarks were made by BBC Arabic Service correspondent Faid Abu Shimalla, at a \"well-attended\" gathering earlier this month to honor some 140 Arab and Islamic journalists. Hamas terrorist leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin was in attendance. BBC has been frequently cited for the one-sided manner in which it reports the events in the Middle East. Women in Green recently wrote, for example,
\"The perverse role the media can play, particularly in television news broadcasting, is exemplified by BBC and CNN in their apparent war against the Jewish State of Israel. Arafat and the Palestinian Authority find they have solid friends in BBC and CNN, and exploit this advantage to the hilt. In their unwillingness to objectively present the news from this area, both BBC and CNN are cardinal offenders of biased and prejudicial reporting. The consequences are grave, damaging and far reaching.\"
