There were several security incidents this evening in various parts of Judea and Samaria.

An Israeli couple from Efrat were shot at as they passed by the Arab village of el-Khader this evening (Sunday), near Bethlehem, in their vehicle. Elsewhere, another Israeli vehicle was targeted in a firebomb attack in the Shomron, near the Arab village of Marda. There were no injuries in either incident.

At approximately 9:30pm Sunday, there were reports of four terrorists having infiltrated Gidonim, an outlying, unrecognized neighborhood of the Shomron community of Itamar. Initial reports from the scene indicated that soldiers were involved in a gun battle with terrorists. Within an hour, however, army sources reported that the terrorists involved in the Itamar infiltration had been successfully neutralized. There were no reports of injuries to IDF troops or to Jewish civilians. However, a separate source stated that the terrorists had escaped the IDF pursuit, while a third reported that, in fact, there had been no infiltration at all. As of this hour, it is still unclear what exactly occurred in the incident, but it may be recalled that several infiltrations have already taken place in the Itamar region during the last two years of the PLO’s ongoing terrorist war against Israel.

In Hevron, an Israeli soldier guarding the Tel Rumeida neighborhood was slightly injured in the face by an Arab attacker at 8:40pm today (Sunday). The soldier was able to shoot back at the terrorist, but failed to prevent his flight back into the Arab sector of the ancient city. No one else was hurt in the incident and IDF soldiers are now searching the area. Hevron rapid response team members were also alerted and are currently out on patrol in the city.

In reaction to the latest terrorist attacks, a Hevron spokesman said, “Tonight, families and soldiers in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood were in jeopardy. Thankfully, the soldier was able to react swiftly, keeping the terrorist out of the neighborhood.... We call on the government to begin an immediate policy of expulsion, evicting families of terrorists from the city, expelling them to neighboring countries.... We also demand an immediate end to the temporary injunction stopping building in Tel Rumeida.... It is essential that Hevron's Arabs learn that continued terror activity against Jews will lead, not to a decrease in Israelis living in Hevron, rather to the contrary, the population will increase.”
