Following a meeting in France with PA chairman Yasser Arafat, French President Jacques Chirac called upon Israel and the PA to accept and implement the recommendations of the Mitchell Committee. A French government spokesman indicated that France was \"satisfied\" with Arafat\'s \"genuine efforts towards achieving peace in the region.\"
