The Knesset Absorption Committee, chaired by MK Colette Avital (Labor), held an emergency closed-door session today on the current situation of the Jews of Iraq. Some 40 Jews, mostly elderly, remain in the country, with most of them living in Baghdad. The committee heard from a senior Mossad representative, the chairman of the Babylonian Jewish Heritage Center, and others. MK Avital said that there is currently "no cause for concern," although she acknowledged that there are some matters that "should not be discussed publicly."
