In what appears to have been an attempted infiltration into the Jordan Valley community of Hamra, an armed terrorist was shot and killed last night by IDF soldiers. He was spotted by the soldiers as he and an accomplice approached Hamra's perimeter fence. The dead man had opened fire at the soldiers, while the second terrorist managed to flee. No Israelis were hurt in the incident.
In the south, S'derot came under Qassam rocket attack from the Palestinian Authority, as it has repeatedly in past week. Three rockets were fired at the city during the course of the day yesterday, with the last landing in the early evening. No one was injured in the bombardment, and it appears that the rockets landed in open areas.
Also last night, Route 443, connecting Modi'in to Jerusalem, was the scene of several rock-throwing attacks on Israeli cars by Arabs from villages along the centrally-located road. One motorist sustained light injuries in the attacks.
In other incidents, PLO terrorists and their allies launched grenades and shot at IDF soldiers in Gaza, along the Egypt-Israel border, yesterday and this morning, as well as in the area of the Gush Katif community of Gadid. In Ramallah, near Jenin and in Shechem, IDF troops came under attack, as well. In Shechem, the soldiers killed their attacker. There were noinjuries to IDF troops in any of the incidents.
Meanwhile, the aftermath of Wednesday's Haifa suicide bombing continues to be felt today, as four more of the 15 victims are laid to rest. 22 victims remain hospitalized at this time, with six of them listed in criticaln condition, seven moderate, and the remainder light.
