What should be done about the non-stop shooting attacks from Beit Jala onto Jerusalem\'s southern neighborhood, Gilo? Minister of Labor Shlomo Benizri (Shas) and other government ministers, participating in the security cabinet meeting today, recommended that the first row of Beit Jala houses facing Gilo - from where the firing emanates - be \"shaved.\" Moti Abu, the head of the Gilo community council, does not agree:
\"We do not support this idea. We have lived in peace with Beit Jala in the past, and we hope to do so in the future; I don\'t think that shaving a row of houses is the right thing to do. There must be other solutions - it\'s not our job to think of them, we simply demand that the army put a stop to the shooting... The shooting has become more intense and more accurate, and many more people are getting wounded. People are understandably very uptight about the fact they can be sitting in their living rooms and suddenly get shot. We have therefore decided that we will no longer sit quietly, and tomorrow we will hold a protest outside the PM\'s home. We will raise our voices, and demand an end to what seems to be a nightmare without an end…\"
Shots were fired at Gilo again this afternoon.
