IDF troops managed to shoot and kill two terrorists in two separate incidents in the early morning hours. One terrorist was shot and killed by IDF soldiers as he tried to infiltrate across a security fence in northern Gaza, opposite the community of Dugit. Also in Gaza today, at the Erez checkpoint, an Arab threw hand grenades and opened fire at IDF troops, but he, too, was shot dead when soldiers returned fire. The attacker carried an assault rifle, grenades and a pistol. There were no injuries reported to Israeli forces in either incident.

Other IDF successes overnight include the capture of at least eighteen wanted or suspected terrorists throughout Judea, Samaria and Gaza, and the demolition of the Shomron home of terrorist Aziz Hajji Ali. Ali was involved, among other attacks, in the December 12, 2001 terrorist attack against a bus at Emanuel Junction in the Shomron, in which 11 Jews were murdered and over 20 were wounded.
