Ynet, Yediot Acharonot's internet site, reports that the Bush Administration is planning a decade-long war against worldwide terrorism. Officials of the Pentagon and the Administration have explained their plans to colleagues in Western countries, among them - Israel. The targets of the campaign are those who were mentioned in President Bush's "Axis of Evil" speeches, including North Korea, Iran, and organizations such as Hizbullah. Ynet quotes Israeli sources as saying that the Americans feel that Bin Laden and the countries that are willing to host him or other terrorist organizations are striking a major blow at the U.S.'s most essential interests, namely, its citizens' personal security and its economy.

At the same time, however, U.S. State Department Spokesman Richard Boucher says that the U.S. is concerned over the recent deaths of PA residents resulting from IDF activities in Gaza. Some 15 terrorists have been killed in Israeli anti-terror operations over the past few days, and several civilians were accidentally killed just prior to that. Boucher noted with "concern" the "killing of youngsters that is caused by Israeli operations," but added, "We recognize Israel's right to take legitimate measures against terrorism. There can be no justification for the terrorism and violence that the Israelis have been forced to suffer."

Israeli officials will request 100 changes in the "Road Map" plan being prepared by the White House. The plan calls for the establishment of a temporary Palestinian state within a year, and a permanent one by 2005.
