The residents of N\'vei Tzuf and the army have come to an agreement regarding the new outpost they established at the site of Friday\'s terrorist murder of Lt. Ya\'ir Nebentzal. The N\'vei Tzuf people brought a caravan to the site yesterday, which resulted in a minor clash with special police forces. After hours of negotiations, Binyamin Commander Col. Ilan Paz agreed, at around 2 AM, that the residents may stay there until the end of the seven-day mourning period, and that the army will establish a permanent military position there afterwards.
For N\'vei Tzuf, the long-range purpose of the outpost is to create a new point of settlement - but for the short term, the goal is merely to have a civil and military presence at a point that has become mortally dangerous for them. Local Arabs have been shooting at them several times a week from the site of the new outpost, miraculously causing very few injuries - but after the murder of Ya\'ir Nebentzal, they finally took action. \"Our silent protests ended when the miracles ended,\" they say.
One of the leaders of the initiative, Oded Stern, told Arutz-7: \"We grabbed the hill on Saturday night, and then informed the army and demanded that they fulfill their promise and take it over permanently. We also demanded that they \'shave\' the trees and overgrowth behind which they hide to shoot at us time after time. We also took over a point down below, turned it into a memorial for Ya\'ir and a place for our youth; this forces the army to be there. In addition, there will be no Palestinian traffic here...\" The army brought a tank to the site and plans to erect a permanent outpost there or nearby, for the protection of the Jewish traffic on the route.
