Could it be the internet? A poll shows that Israel's two largest newspapers - Yediot Acharonot and Maariv - each suffered a 2.5% decrease in distribution in the year 2002. Ha'aretz also recorded a decline, but a significantly smaller one than that of its competitors. In contrast, the weekly newspaper Makor Rishon, a right-wing alternative to the mainstream press, has seen continued growth in its readership, registering an increase in each of 11 months of 2002.
