More than 100 leaders of the major American Jewish organizations will convene for the four-day annual Conference of Presidents Leadership Mission to Israel, beginning tomorrow. The assembly will examine issues such as US-Israel relations, the war against terrorism, strategic regional threats, and other security, political and economic challenges. "Our presence in such significant numbers, the largest attendance ever, is a direct response to the momentous developments taking place today in
Israel and the region, from the recent elections to the developments regarding Iraq," said Mortimer B. Zuckerman, Chairman. Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman, added, "We all, American Jews and Israelis, are living with day-to-day challenges of utmost seriousness. As we consult with Israel's top leaders and experts, we hope to educate and stimulate our leadership to enable them to confront the challenges ahead in the best-informed way."
Tomorrow's schedule features Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert; MK Ephraim Sneh (Labor); a forum of experts on domestic Israeli politics, the Arab world and the Jews, and the changing threat of international terrorism.
