Israel is joining the multi-national program to develop and manufacture a new jet fighter named the JSF - the Joint Strike Fighter. Defense Ministry Dir.-Gen. Gen. (res.) Amos Yaron and U.S. Undersecretary of Defense Edward Aldridge signed the relevant papers last night in Washington. The signing marked the "successful conclusion of months of intensive consultations between representatives of the Israel Air Force and the American Defense Department," said Israeli officials. It was agreed that Israel would receive the planes, known as F-35's, by the year 2012. Other countries participating in the program include Denmark, Australia, Turkey, Canada, Norway, and Great Britain.
