A car bomb exploded alongside an IDF outpost in Gush Katif shortly before noon today. The car's hood landed on the roof of the outpost from the force of the blast, but no one was seriously hurt. The incident began when the car approached the base, with a Palestinian terrorist opening fire at the soldiers standing guard. The car then veered sharply towards the soldiers and exploded. Four soldiers were lightly hurt and were taken to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva. Three bodies - presumably of Arab terrorists - were found in the blown-up vehicle.
Several other incidents of anti-Israel violence occurred today in Gaza. A bomb exploded harmlessly this morning near the Karni Checkpoint in Gaza... An IDF force found two anti-aircraft launchers just north of Netzarim… To the south, Arabs hurled several grenades at an IDF patrol on the Israeli-Egyptian border. No one was hurt, and IDF soldiers returned fire...
In Shechem, IDF forces arrested a terrorist in the midst of planning to commit a suicide attack against Israelis. A senior Tanzim terrorist, responsible for shooting attacks in the Shechem vicinity in the past, was one of nine other wanted terrorists or suspected accomplices arrested last night. Arabs fired at an IDF force near Shechem during the night; no one was hurt. A former local Tanzim leader in the Bethlehem area, long wanted by the IDF, gave himself up to army forces at a checkpoint south of Jerusalem.
