Gunfire was exchanged this morning near Rafiach; PA reports of Israeli Navy attacks on a PA naval base in Gaza were \"totally unfounded,\" according to the IDF spokesman. Another battle was waged near Ein \'Arik, west of Ramallah... IDF soldiers prevented an attempted attack along the northern border fence of the Gaza Strip. They noticed a pipe bomb that had been placed alongside the fence, and safely neutralized it.

Arab terrorists in the village of Beit Jala renewed their shooting attacks last night upon soldiers and residents in Jerusalem - specifically, its southern neighborhood of Gilo. Three bombs were detonated against Israeli forces on Friday night and yesterday in southern Gaza near the Rafiach crossing to Egypt. Five hand grenades and firebombs were thrown at soldiers in the same area. There were also reports of shooting against IDF soldiers in other Gaza areas. No one was hurt, and IDF soldiers returned fire in all the incidents.

During an initiated IDF activity near an Arab village in the Jenin area in the Shomron yesterday, soldiers identified two PA para-military policemen approaching them. The force responded with fire towards the two, after which a third PA policeman approached and opened fire towards the force. IDF soldiers threw a hand grenade towards the attacker. The IDF spokesman said that three hits were identified, and emphasized that the armed Palestinian policemen were in a B area, which is under Israeli security control - in violation of agreements that prohibit the presence of armed PA forces in this area.
