The Yesha Rabbis Council has publicized a call to all right-wing parties to make their entry into the coalition government contingent upon the opening of the Temple Mount to Jewish worshipers.
The Yesha Rabbis state, "This situation, in which the Temple Mount is closed to Jews and open only to Moslems, is a desecration of G-d's Name to the fullest extent, for in this way we broadcast to the whole world that the Arab connection to our holy site is stronger than ours, Heaven forbid." The council, led by Rabbis Dov Lior and Daniel Shilo, asks the parties not to even begin coalition negotiations before the Temple Mount is opened to Jews.
In a related story, a new campaign has begun, complete with radio commercials, calling for increased public awareness of the centrality of the Temple Mount. "Who does not get chills hearing the hallowed words of Gen. Mota Gur in the Six-Day War, 'The Temple Mount is in our hands! The Temple Mount is in our hands!'" the announcer says. An insert included in the weekend newspapers on behalf of the Temple Mount included signatures of many public officials, including former Water Commissioner Prof. Dan Zaslavski. Zaslavski explained to Arutz-7 that he is unwilling to agree to have the Jewish People living in a ghetto within Israel. "Jews must be able to walk and live wherever they want in the Land of Israel," he said. "The Temple Mount is the heart of the Nation of Israel, the object of its longings throughout the generations. If we give up on the Temple Mount, then we have to ask what are we doing here in the land altogether."
