The Islamic Jihad had planned to detonate four car-bombs in Israeli cities on Election Day - but an IDF Golani unit entered Jenin that morning and, together with an undercover Border Guard unit, killed the four terrorists. Among the dead were ringleader Yusuf Saada, only 17 years old. Two Border Guardsmen were wounded in the firefight, and the forces found the four designated cars in the Jenin market area.



Yet another terrorist attack near Um el-Fahm, between Afula and Hadera, was thwarted this afternoon. A Palestinian terrorist aroused the suspicions of a Border Guard patrol, which attempted to question him. The Arab pulled out a knife and jumped on one of the policemen, but was shot and killed by the other Border Guardsman. IDF troops uncovered an explosives lab in an Arab village northwest of Hevron last night. Materials for the manufacture of bombs were found in the lab, which was hidden in a cave. The troops arrested seven suspects in the village.



An IDF military court in Gaza has sentenced Nabil Muhammad Abu Okal, a Hamas terrorist who trained in an Al Qaeda camp in Afghanistan, to 27 years in prison. Okal was sent on his mission by Al Qaeda in June 2000, with the aim of setting up an Al Qaeda network in the Palestinian Authority.
