"War against Saddam Hussein is inevitable," Defense Minister Sha'ul Mofaz said today. Speaking at an Israel Navy installation, Mofaz said that the war will have indirect ramifications on the security situation here, and that it could be accompanied by an escalation in the north or from the sea.



Israeli and U.S. forces are conducting a joint anti-aircraft exercise in the Negev today. In the course of the drill, which was scheduled two years ago, 10 to 14 Patriot missiles will be fired at simulated targets. Other scenarios will also be reviewed.



The Home Front Command has begun distributing pamphlets detailing proper reactions to a missile attack on Israel. Entitled "In Case of Genuine Emergency," the pamphlet appears in seven different languages, and enough have been printed for every home in the country. Some 90% of the population have renewed their gas-mask kits, though the hareidi sector is well below that average.
