President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, attacked Israel and claimed that its operation in Gaza against Hamas was like “Nazism in Germany.”
“Nazism is a form of fascism, deeply violent and genocidal. It is based on the belief in a superior race that gives it the right to exterminate and subordinate those who are different, whom it even considers non-human. That is happening in Palestine,” he wrote on X.
He posted a video clip of areas in Gaza that were bombed by Israeli planes and added, “They say they are not nazis. Even if the Western conscience doesn’t like these facts, the killing of 5,300 Palestinian boys and girls is Nazism.”
Foreign Minister Eli Cohen responded: “Colombian President Gustavo Petro's baseless and anti-Semitic attacks against the State of Israel mainly reflect a lack of knowledge and moral blindness. It is almost two months after the 7 October massacre, and we still have yet to hear the President of Colombia unequivocally condemn the massacre committed by the Hamas monsters during which more than 1200 Israelis were murdered, entire families were executed in cold blood, children and babies were burned alive, Israeli citizens were beheaded, women were raped and murdered, and 240 Israelis and foreigners were kidnapped to Gaza."
"The words of the President of Colombia indicate historical ignorance and Holocaust denial. I invite him to visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum and learn the history of the Jewish people and the Holocaust before he expresses himself this way again,” concluded Cohen.
