Chana, a mother in Israel, is suffering from an incurable disease due to complications from her pregnancy. The illness is so rare that she is the only one in the country suffering from it, and it completely prevents her from functioning.
The baby, Refael Chaim, was delivered three months early through an emergency C-section. He is now in NICU with deformed legs and multiple medical complications in his heart and lungs. He is due to undergo a series of complex operations to give him some chance of a normal life.
Meanwhile, the family at home is falling apart. The father is torn between caring for the baby in the NICU and looking after the multiple needs of his five young children at home. The mother is the main breadwinner, and with her out of action, they have no money for rent, food, bills, or to pay for the help they desperately need to keep the house functioning.
