The Housing Ministry confirms that a new Jewish neighborhood has been planned and approved for the Wadi Joz area in eastern Jerusalem. The site is located below Mt. Scopus, and is designed to create a Jewish contiguity from the Mt. Scopus-Beit Orot area up to the Old City. Some 70 housing units were originally planned over ten years ago, but the plan was shelved in 1992 when Yitzchak Rabin was elected Prime Minister. It will still be several months before a tender for construction will be issued.
