“Classic Tatty. He’s probably helping Mrs. Ganz push her husband home up the hill in his wheelchair,” the Amsalem family told themselves on Simchat Torah morning. Several sirens had gone off that morning, but Mrs. Amsalem was sure it was her husband’s sweet nature that kept him from arriving home on time.
They could not have been more wrong.
Yosef Amsalem*, father of two five children, Sara (15), Shalom (11), Moishy (9), Yitachok (6), and Chani (3), was murdered on the Simchat Torah massacre. The five little Amsalem children lost their beloved father, and the sole provider of their family.
“I know he’s right up in heaven next to the righteous ones”, are the heart-wrenching words shared by Yosef’s brother.
“We remain here with shattered hearts, broken and in pain. I promise you that we will do everything for your kids.“
Yosef’s widow needs so much support to keep her 5 little children fed now that he is gone, one of whom has down’s syndrome. A fund has been opened to help Yosef’s widow provide for the children after this devastating loss.
