Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant this evening (Monday) completed a briefing during which he approved additional operational plans for IDF activities in the city of Gaza and the northern area of the Gaza Strip.
Gallant stated: “I have just completed a briefing during which I approved IDF plans for operational activities in the Gaza Strip. IDF activities over the past day have been extremely impressive.”
“These efforts result in extraordinary achievements including strikes on terrorists and their commanders on the field," he said. "The combination between the Air Force and ground forces shakes the Gaza Strip.”
"Just over the past day, we have eliminated both company commanders and battalion commanders, some of whom were expected to fill in for commanders we had eliminated one or two days prior.
"The IDF is operating with full force. Yahya Sinwar hides in his bunker and lets the [Hamas] field commanders die in the field. In our forces, our commanders head to the frontline, leading their troops, charging forward and making real achievements in the field," the defense minister said.
Earlier, it was announced that overnight, an IAF fighter jet, directed by ISA and IDF intelligence, killed the Commander of Hamas’ Deir al-Balah Battalion in the Central Camps Brigade, Wael Asefa. Asefa, together with other commanders of the Central Camps Brigade, was responsible for sending Hamas “Nukhba” terrorists into Israeli territory during the barbaric massacre on October 7th. Following the massacre, he planned additional terrorist attacks.
Wael Asefa was imprisoned between 1992-1998 for his involvement in terrorist attacks against Israeli communities and has been involved in the incitement and promotion of terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers for decades.
