The average age of an Israeli car is now 7.4 years, as opposed to 7.2 in 2001. In terms of cars per capita, Savyon, Ramat Ef'al, Kfar Shmaryahu, Omer, and Tel Aviv are the top five. Savyon has 568 autos per 1,000 people - a drop from 583 in 2001. In last place is Beitar Illit, which climbed from 39 cars per 1,000 people in 2001 to 42 last year. Tel Aviv has 445 cars per 1,000 residents, Haifa - 274, Eilat - 201, Ariel - 104, and Jerusalem - 158. The bottom 10 cities, topped by Dimona with 133, include four Israeli-Arab cities, as well as Beit Shemesh with 113 and N'vei Dekalim (3rd-to-last) with 106. At the end of 2002, Israel had just over 2 million vehicles, about 3/4 of which are private cars.
