The police have arrested a nurse at the Bnai Zion Medical Center in Haifa who uploaded a post that included messages of sympathy and support for the massacre carried out by the terrorist organization Hamas.
The arrest follows a report regarding a post which read, among other things: "It is more than we could have expected," and, "It is an event that brings joy."
The suspect in publishing the post was located in a short time and arrested for questioning on suspicion of incitement, support and identification with the terrorist organization.
At the end of her investigation, it will be decided whether to bring her before the Haifa Magistrate's Court and request the extension of her detention.
At the same time, detectives from the Taibeh station started a proactive investigation after receiving a report about a publication on social networks supporting the acts of terrorism and massacre in the south, by a 30-year-old resident of the city who works as a nurse at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.
At the end of her investigation, it was decided to go to court and ask to extend her detention.
The Bnai Zion Medical Center in Haifa said, "The management of the Bnai Zion Medical Center expresses shock and takes very seriously the things attributed to a nurse in one of the hospital's departments and strongly condemns her statements."
"The management of the medical center will take all the necessary disciplinary measures against her in coordination with the relevant authorities in the Haifa municipality and the Ministry of Health until a hearing is held to examine the termination of her employment at the hospital as required by law."
The Belinson Hospital stated: "Following complaints from the hospital staff about a nurse in the department who published posts on a social network supporting terrorism, the nurse was summoned to a hearing and immediately suspended from her job. The hospital management filed a complaint with the police. Belinson's management condemns this behavior and will show zero tolerance for events of this type."
Earlier, the Police Commissioner warned at a situation assessment meeting of the senior command staff against support for terrorism among Israeli Arabs, "Let anyone who incites against the State of Israel, its symbols of government, its elected officials, its soldiers and its police know that the Israel Police will deal with them harshly with zero tolerance."
According to him, "the numbers show that the Israeli police officers, both in the national team and in the district teams, act with determination and professionalism on the subject of incitement. The Israel Police considers it of the utmost importance to curb support for Hamas and ISIS, and certainly if this support comes from Arab elements of Israel who are residents of the country whose soldiers and police protect them all year round, just as it protects and fights for the security of all its residents."
"Supporting a terrorist organization of any kind will not be on my agenda; see that you have been warned," Shabtai concluded.
