The first Rashi in the Torah
The first Rashi in the TorahChani Pogatch

Lo and behold, finally the political lexicon in Israel is changing. There is good news and bad news. The good news is that Prime Minster Netanyahu and the Likud have finally abandoned the disastrous and illusionary conception that the Hamas can be bribed with enormous cash payments to be good terrorists and go about their business quietly for a year or two in Aza before returning to kill Jews. This tragic conception was the creation of Shimon Peres, Yitzhak Rabin, Yossi Beilin, Ehud Barak and all of the generals and genius professors of the political Left in Israel.

Not having any better solution of his own, Netanyahu continued in their bloodstained reasoning. The sane residents of the country who weren’t fooled by the massive media brainwashing surrounding Oslo stridently warned the self-deluded political leadership but their ears remained clogged to our calls. Today, even the leaders of the Left and the most liberal of peace mongers are calling for the destruction of Hamas.

This is the good news. The bad news is that this new conception is faulty as well.

Why? Because this equally-deluded solution allows Arabs to remain in Gaza. As long as Israel permits the Arabs in the Gaza Strip to govern their own lives there will never be peace. We can kill every Hamas terrorist and annihilate the Hamas leadership but we can’t vanquish its cancerous ideology with rockets or cash. To phrase the matter simply – the Arabs of Gaza must go.

What then is the solution? After a Dresden-like bombing forces all of the Arabs to flee to Egypt we have to simply lock the gates behind them. After all, as we learn from Rashi in this week’s Torah portion, all the Land of Israel is ours. Call it the Rashi Conception. With the Arabs gone from our Land, we can rebuild Aza and fill it with Jews.

Of course this is the solution for Yesha as well. To protect Jewish life, the Arabs must go. We can give the Palestinian Authority all the money in the world and they will continue to send their agents of death to kill us. But tragically, it seems that we are forever destined to learn the hard way. Politicians will continue to play their deadly deluded games and Jews will continued to be slaughtered until King David returns to the original Israelite conception to its proper place. What is this conception called? The Torah.
