Captain Lidar Peretz, 21, from Or Yehuda, is the IDF officer who was killed on Thursday morning after being crushed by a fallen storage container at a military base in southern Israel.
The officer was posthumously promoted from second lieutenant to captain.
An additional soldier was lightly injured in the incident and was taken for medical treatment.
The Military Police opened an investigation into the incident, after which the findings will be sent to be examined by the military prosecutor. The officer's family was notified.
