Residents of the haredi neighborhood of Mea Shearim in Jerusalem have experienced a spate of burglaries recently. The break-ins usually take place at night and are believed to mostly be the work of a group of Arabs from eastern Jerusalem.
Journalist Yair Levy, who works for the Behadrei Haredim website, recounted how he woke up to discover two Arab burglars in his room.
The burglars noticed that the homeowner was awake and quickly left the property before they had a chance to steal anything. They were recorded on security cameras entering a neighboring house before breaking into the journalist's house by entering through the backyard.
Levy stated that residents have set up a system whereby every time a burglary occurs, alerts to sent to residents' phones with the location of the break-in. This allows those in the area to converge on the location to catch the burglars.
