The Jerusalem Magistrates Court on Monday disclosed that an investigation was underway into a suspected criminal-related murder after a body was found in the Jordan Valley last week. The suspect allegedly burned the body after the murder.
The Palestinian Authority Police transferred the body to the Israeli Police after Arabs found it in a date palm grove in the Jordan Valley. Earlier in the week, rumors had been circulating the internet claiming that the murder was nationalistically motivated.
A Jew, whose details are under gag order, was arrested in connection to the case. All additional details pertaining to the case are under gag order as well.
The judge wrote in his decision: "In order to prevent public panic, as written in the request, I am making an exception from the gag order the fact that it is a case of Jew who was murdered by a Jewish suspect."
The victim's brother told Walla, "It's a cruel death; they burned the body to its core with a lot of benzene. It's not like someone was burned in a terror attack or something like that where it's only legs, arms, or face, it's complete. The entire body is burned. It's very cruel, I don't think a human being can do such a thing. And he wasn't in a feud with anyone.
People have already published on the internet that it was a nationalistic attack, and it could be that it was nationalistic since who could do such a thing other than a terrorist? No Jew could burn a body to such an extent," he said.
"The family's feeling his very bad. On the one hand, we want to know what happened, on the other hand, we want justice. And more than that, if it was a nationalistic terror attack, we want them to find that out and make it known. There's nothing, we don't have any leads or anything."
