Rabbi Baruch Mordechai Ezrachi, a senior member of the Degel Hatorah party's Council of Torah Sages, was sedated and connected to a respirator on Sunday afternoon after his condition worsened and became critical.

Yeshivas in haredi population centers across the country halted their regular studies to pray for the 91-year-old rabbi.

The rabbi was taken from his yeshiva, Ateret Israel in Modiin Illit, to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem after having difficulty breathing.

On Saturday night, it was reported that the rabbi's condition stabilized, but overnight, his condition worsened, and as stated above, during the afternoon, he was sedated and connected to a respirator, and his condition is considered critical.

The public is asked to pray for Rabbi Baruch Mordechai ben Hinda Malka
