Two people were arrested on Friday on suspicion of attacking protesters who were demonstrating against the judicial reform outside the home of MK Shalom Danino (Likud), in the town of Omer in southern Israel.
Footage from the incident showed the demonstrators gathering around a vehicle that is driving slowly in the area and blocking its path. The driver is then seen getting out of his vehicle holding a stick and running towards the protesters.
The protesters claimed that the driver tried to run them over and drove his car into the center of the demonstration. The driver, and his son who was with him, were detained for questioning on suspicion of assault.
On Thursday, protesters who oppose the judicial reform gathered outside the homes of coalition Knesset members and ministers.
On Wednesday, hundreds of anti-government protesters blocked the Ayalon Highway in Tel Aviv in response to the resignation of Tel Aviv District Police Chief Deputy Commissioner Ami Eshed.
During the demonstration, protesters shattered the windshield of a vehicle that hit a protester while attempting to pass. According to the police spokesperson, the driver broke through the protesters, and police detained him.
The demonstrators lit flares on the road and waved flags and signs. Police forces in large numbers arrived at the scene in order to clear the highway.
