An IDF soldier was moderately injured on Tuesday during a training accident at a base in southern Israel.
A statement from the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit stated that "an IDF soldier was moderately wounded by gunfire earlier today (Tuesday) in a training accident at a military base in southern Israel. The officer was taken by helicopter to receive medical treatment at a hospital and his family has been notified. The incident is being investigated."
Last week, 19-year-old soldier Or Yisraelov was killed during a training accident at a base in southern Israel.
Yisraelov, a resident of Bat Yam, was participating in a live-fire training when he was hit by a bullet shot from 250 meters away. Upon his death, he was promoted from the rank of corporal to the rank of sergeant.
"The circumstances of the incident are being investigated at the scene by the commanders and the military police has opened an investigation into the incident," an IDF statement read. "Upon completion of the investigation, the findings will be transferred for the examination of the Military Prosecutor's Office. In addition, the Ground Forces Commander, Major-General Tamir Yadai, has ordered a halt to trainings in all IDF units until a review of safety protocols has been completed."
