A group of vandals from the Arab town of Burqa set a fire near the Jewish community of Homesh today (Monday) and rioted there. Jewish residents together with IDF forces were attacked by the rioters as they worked to extinguish the blaze.

One resident was injured when he was struck in the head by a stone thrown by one of the Arab rioters. The resident was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment.

Samaria Regional Council chairman Yossi Dagan said in response to the incident: "Time after time, the terrorists of the Palestinian Authority try to harm the Homesh yeshiva - this matter should be dealt with by using a heavy hand."

"The operation in Jenin is a first step on the road to real deterrence. The answer is to strengthen the Homesh yeshiva and build the four communities of Ganim, Kedim, Homesh, and Sa-nur," Dagan added, referencing the four communities of northern Samaria which were destroyed as part of the 2005 Disengagement.
