Following the violent anti-government demonstration outside the home of Justice Minister Yariv Levin this week, and due to additional threats against ministers and MKs, Prime Minister Netanyahu is expected to convene a meeting with several ministers supposedly titled "limits on the public space."

Israel Hayom is reporting that the meeting is expected to discuss legal tools to deal with attacks by protesters on ministers, MKs, and senior officials, as well as other threats to officials' safety that have been raised of late. Among the ministers who were summoned to the meeting are Justice Minister Yariv Levin and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

Government sources say that the meeting is meant to discuss tools for handling personal attacks on ministers and MKs, which according to them, "cross every line" and are on the rise lately, and not to "limit legitimate demonstrations."

As an example, the sources cite a physical attack on Economics Minister Nir Barkat, the megaphone incident with MK Simcha Rothman in New York, and especially the demonstration that was held this week outside the home of Minister Levin, during which protesters blocked the road to his house and burned tires. Six individuals were arrested during the demonstration, yet all were released afterward.

During a faction meeting last month, Likud MKs and Ministers complained that they "can not walk around freely, the protest has crossed every line." The party members complained that the demonstrations chase them everywhere, and they are constantly under attack.

MK Yuli Edelstein (Likud) stated: "For a while, it's no longer just verbal. They get close to your face, and I don't know how I would survive it without security. We need to discuss this." Minister Ofir Akunis added that his neighbors are trying to chase him out of his neighborhood in Tel Aviv: "They left a note on my windshield saying 'You aren't wanted here.'"
