Two Israeli series made by the Israeli broadcaster Kan made history this week when their broadcast rights were bought by Arab countries.
The first series is a docu-series called "Cassandra's Prophecy" which was sold to the Saudi broadcasting network MBC which broadcasts in the Middle East and North Africa, and this is the first time that the broadcast rights of an Israeli TV series have been sold to a Saudi broadcasting network. In addition, the series will soon be broadcast on the German network ZDF, Arte France, and CBC Canada.
"Cassandra's Prophecy" deals with the money laundering and drug smuggling network of Hezbollah and Iran and the attempt to stop it by the DEA and the Mossad. The series is an Israeli-German-Canadian co-production, produced by Zygote Films and directed by Duki Dror, and its sale to MBC was carried out by David Toledano.
The second series is an original educational drama series called "Special" that was sold to the Turkish broadcasting network Kanal D. For the first time, a local adaptation of an original Israeli drama series will be broadcast in Turkey.
The series, which deals with the world of teenagers with special needs and youth on the autistic spectrum, will be broadcast in Turkey starting on July 4, 2023 in prime time on Kanal D, one of the leading commercial channels in the country.
"After receiving great admiration from younger audiences, and the Israeli Academy awards," said Omer Manor, director of Kan's educational programming, "we are proud to bring the program to the young viewers around the world as well."
