Retired Chief of Staff Dan Halutz participated today (Sunday) in a panel held at Reichman University in Herzliya as part of the annual conference of the Rubinstein Center for Constitutional Challenges and claimed, among other things, that non-compliance as part of the protest against the government's judicial reform plan is legitimate in his opinion.

"I'm not a person who enjoys protests and waving flags. I went to this protest only when I realized that if the government fulfills its plans, my children will not live in Israel. That's why I enlisted. I travel in convoys that block roads, and this is a legitimate offense in my view," Halutz stated.

According to him, "There may be more crimes that will be committed. We are doing it without bloodshed. There is still a long way to go, but we will not give up."

"Someone who tries to eliminate my democratic rights, but calls me brother, is not my brother. This protest must end with the drafting of a new plan for Israel; maybe we will even succeed in drafting a constitution," he concluded.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Netanyahu announced that the judicial reform legislation would be advanced in the coming week after the opposition suspended the negotiations at the President's Residence last week.
