The Tourism Ministry is seeing to it that tourists in Israel will not be left without protection in the event of a biochemical attack. The Ministry has distributed over 10,000 gas masks and kits to hotels and youth hostels around the country, which they have been instructed to provide to their guests in case of emergency. In addition, all the country's hotels have informational videos in several languages, explaining the use of the protective equipment and what measures to take in the event of an alert. The Ministry will maintain ongoing contact with, and provide updated information to, Israeli hotel managers.
Tourists who are not staying in hotels will be able to purchase approved gas masks, and tourists arriving Israel while an emergency is in force will be given gas masks at the airport. The Ministry is operating a 24-hour hotline at Ben Gurion International Airport for tourists to obtain updates and information: 03-971-1485. Regional Tourism Ministry information offices will operate in the Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Eilat, Haifa and Tiberias areas, as will regular Home Front Command offices.
