Palestinian terrorism claimed three more victims in the past 24 hours: One in Moshav Gadish, south of Afula; a soldier on the Israeli-Egyptian border; and a female Chinese worker - Zhang Ming Ming - in her late 20’s. Ming succumbed this morning to wounds she suffered in the double suicide attack in Tel Aviv last Sunday night.

Around 7 PM last night, Islamic Jihad terrorists penetrated the agricultural community of Gadish, in the Ta’nachim area, and shot to death Eli Biton, 48, father of four. Biton, a security officer for the Gilboa Local Council, was shot in his vehicle while on duty. The two terrorists then took cover for over an hour and a half in one of the community’s homes, until they were finally killed by security forces. Four security personnel were wounded by terrorist fire in the attack.

Biton's cousin Avi Peretz was an eyewitness to the attack: "The terrorists started shooting at Eli. I ran to the car and pulled him out, but I realized that nothing could be done. They shot him in his chest. In any event, I told him to breathe, to calm down, until the ambulance could arrive. But in the meantime, the terrorists opened fire at me from two directions. I shot back at the terrorist, and then saw that my cousin had died right before my eyes."

Yaakov Biton eulogized his brother: "He filled a number of public positions, but his strongest desire was always to ensure town security. He always ran right out to defend the town's residents." Eli Biton left behind his parents, wife, and four children: Liraz, 23, Dvir, 20, Hufit, 15, and Yakir, 10.

Around the same time, Arab terrorists infiltrating from Egypt near the Negev border town of Nitzana killed Corp. (res.) Michael Kazakov of Jerusalem, and wound another soldier. Two of the three infiltrators were later killed by IDF troops, and Kalachnikov rifles and magazines were found next to their bodies. A bag containing an explosive device was also found, and was detonated this morning by army sappers.

Army sources said that this was the sixth recent infiltration attempt from Egypt.
