Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is joining the board of directors of Quantum Source (QS), which was established in 2021 by a group of renowned scientists and engineers to develop an Israeli quantum computer.

According to the report on the Calcalist website, Bennett's role is to help the company mainly with regards to business development around the world. Bennett has experience in the high-tech world as one of the founders of the startup Cyota in 1999, which in 2005 was sold to the security giant RSA for $145 million. Later, Bennett served for a short period as the CEO of Soluto, which was also sold in 2013 for $130 million.

Bennett said: "Quantum computing is a technology with significant potential to advance our world and influence our lives. Being a high-tech nation, we have the opportunity to take the lead in this innovative and ground-breaking field. I believe that the Quantum Source team will play a significant part in leading the field's development and advancement."

Quantum Source was established in 2021 by Oded Melamed who serves as CEO, Dan Charash who serves as chairman, Gil Semo who serves as Vice President of Research and Development, and Prof. Barak Dayan, and employs 30 people. Quantum Source is part of a recent wave of companies which are attempting to develop processors for quantum computers.
